Activated Carbon

Carbopal® for a variety of applications

Carbopal® can be used for the treatment of liquids, in waster incineration plants and for the decolourisation of Polymer solutions, etc.

The following liquids can be treated:

  • Fruit Juice / Wine / Beer
  • Glucose / Lactose / Gelatines
  • Glycerine
  • Organic & Inorganic Acids
  • Oils & Fats
  • Seasonings & Glutamate
  • Sugar Solutions

Characteristics of Activated Carbon

  • High Surface Area: One of the key features of activated carbon is its extremely high surface area.  The porous structure of activated carbon provides a large internal surface area, typically ranging from 500 to 1500 square meters per gram.  This extensive surface area allows for the adsorption of a wide range of substances.
  • Adsorption Capacity: Activated carbon has a strong adsorption capacity, meaning it can attract and hold molecules onto its surface.  This property is crucial for various applications, particularly in the purification of liquids and gases. The adsorption process is highly effective in removing impurities, contaminants, and odors.
  • Pore Structure: The porous nature of activated carbon is characterized by a distribution of different pore sizes, including micropores, mesopores, and macropores. This diverse pore structure enhances its ability to adsorb a wide range of molecules with different sizes.
  • Chemical Inertness: Activated carbon is chemically inert, making it stable and safe for use in various environments.  It does not react with most chemicals, contributing to its suitability for applications where purity is crucial.
  • Regenerability: In many cases, activated carbon can be regenerated and reused after reaching its adsorption capacity.  The regeneration process involves heating the spent activated carbon to release or decompose the adsorbed substances, restoring its adsorption capabilities.

Salts are Fundamental Basic Materials.

They are an essential part of human nutrition and an important part of many industrial applications.  Salts of the highest possible quality are used in the pharmaceutical and nutritional industries, but also in a variety of technical areas.

1888 the production of high-purity salts, saline solutions and customer-specific salt mixtures was started in Lehrte, Lower Saxony, Germany.  Originally under the name Leonhardt & Martini, in 1926 the company was renamed to Chemische Fabrik Lehrte (CFL).

Application areas for products made by CFL

Applications include pharmaceuticals, dialysis, food production, infant formulas, cosmetics, veterinary, feed and many other areas – individually tailored to the demands of our customers in more than 60 countries throughout the world.

Our Portfolio

Our portfolio includes products manufactured under GMP conditions on site, such as Calcium Chloride, Magnesium Chloride, Potassium Polysulfide, Sodium Sulfate and Magnesium Sulfate. CFL is your reliable partner for high-purity salts and salt mixtures, customerspecific products and mixtures, as well as salts like Potassium Chloride and Sodium Chloride with anti-caking agents.

Refining such as milling, pulverising, mixing, homogenising, drying, packaging and production of pure liquids are also part of our service. We work with you to meet your needs and develop customized solutions for your special requirements.
